The Position
We are inviting applications from appropriately qualified Music Teachers to teach general Music classes to students in Years 4-6 (Kodály Methodology). This is a full time, fixed-term contract position for Term 3, 2024 due to long service leave. Commencing 15 July 2024.
As the JS Music Coordinator, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Coordinate Year 5 Ensemble Program liaising with the Head of Strings, Head of Brass and Woodwind:
- support instrumental staff in ensemble groups.
- communicate calendar and timetable changes to instrumental staff.
- submit summary of staff payments to Music Administrator.
- collate and distribute Ensemble practice tasks to Year 5 students.
- Organise student musicians for assembly.
- Conduct the Year 5 & 6 Choir, liaise with ELC-Year 3 Music teacher to coordinate Year 3 & 4 Choir (including booking accompanists and managing accompaniment music).
- Record assessments and write formative assessments for Term 3 digital portfolio.
- Collaborate with ELC-Year 3 Music teachers.
- Organise Chapel hymns, teach songs to massed year levels and conduct the Choir in Chapel.
The ideal candidate for this role will possess:
- The ability to show a certificate of completion of the Australian Kodály Certificate, or else a certificate of completion of at least one level-Primary Level 1 at minimum.
- Relevant teaching qualifications, current VIT registration along with relevant teaching experience.
- Enthusiasm and a love for music that encourages student participation and creativity.
- Excellent communication skills who will work collaboratively in our Junior School and, more broadly, our Music faculty.
