The Position
We are on the lookout for a creative Landscape Designer to join our experienced team! This role is the perfect opportunity for you to become an invaluable asset to our team, designing epic outdoor spaces that are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and in harmony with the natural environment. As a Landscape construction company, this role offers the unique opportunity to watch your project go from concept to completion, making it truly your own.
This role will primarily involve working in the education sector, including playgrounds and outdoor learning areas, while also touching on designs around open spaces and recreation. This will allow you to have a genuine impact on the lives of our clients, as you create spaces that are inclusive for all.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Design development: Work with clients to understand their nature-play and play-space requirements, goals and budget constraint. Develop design concepts and plans for landscape and playground areas.
- Site analysis: Conduct site analysis to assess existing conditions that may impact the design.
- Safety and accessibility: Ensure that the nature-play or play-space design complies with safety standards and accessibility guidelines to accommodate users of all abilities. Consider factors such a proper spacing of play equipment, fall zones, suitable surfacing materials and inclusive design features.
- Basic cost estimation and budgeting: Prepare basic cost estimates for the proposed design elements, including materials and labour.
- Construction oversight: Address any design modifications, or unexpected issues that may arise during construction.
Candidates with previous design experience and proficiency in CAD programs will be highly regarded.
The role will be based on site with an initial 2 day a week work in our Brisbane office, with the potential for the role to become full time in the next 12 months.
To be successful in the role you must have:
- Tertiary qualification as a Landscape Architect/Urban Design or relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in landscape architecture or similar construction design fields.
- Keen interest and be enthusiastic about outdoor learning and nature play spaces.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- An ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A strong focus on time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook as well and the ability to adapt to our project management program.
The position may require travel to client sites, so a Driver’s License is essential.
