About the role
This role requires expertise in management accounting, high aptitude in understanding the business and a knack for delving into financial systems to shape sturdy financial frameworks around event profitability. Mastery of budgetary control, accrual accounting, and adept communication of commercial implications, both past and future, to stakeholders is essential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with the Event Management and Destinations team (EMD) to formulate clear financial plans – including budgeting/forecasting and project/event budget planning;
- Execute month-end accounting and reporting processes, update and oversee key operational drivers, ensuring accurate reconciliation;
- Provide reporting and analysis into the produced event programme;
- Take the lead in consistently monitoring financial performance throughout the month, proactively identifying opportunities for optimisation and growth;
- Effectively communicate financial insights and recommendations to Senior Management. Collaborate with team leaders and departments to ensure financial alignment with overall organisational objectives; and
- Provide guidance on appropriate accounting treatments for expenses, capital expenditures, and revenue.
About you
The ideal candidate will have:
- Five + years’ experience in a similar role;
- Bachelor's degree or similar in Accounting, Finance, commerce, or related discipline;
- CA / CPA qualified;
- Working within a commercial business preferably in Entertainment / Sales;
- High level computer literacy in the use of Microsoft Excel, Power BI & Power Query;
- Ability to meet deadlines whilst managing competing priorities; and
- Experience with Momentus/ Ungerboeck or other event management systems is highly desirable but not required.
