Roster: Monday to Friday
As the Manager Data Platforms and Engineering, you will lead the data engineering, integration and AI platforms teams. You will work closely with key business customers and stakeholders across Metals, Group and Energy to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and service growth. In this role, you will act as a bridge between technology and business, translating business requirements into solutions across various business functions and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the development and execution of Fortescue's data, integration and AI platforms' strategies and roadmaps for development and continuous improvement, and drive adoption of the technologies throughout our business
- Lead, coach and empower your teams of data engineers, solution architects, developers, DevOps engineers and platforms support, providing technical guidance and mentorship to foster innovation and excellence
- Build and nurture relationships with internal customers including Mine, Rail & Port Operations, acting as a bridge to connect customer needs to technology solutions
- Engage with external partners, vendors, and experts in the data field to stay abreast of advancements and potential collaborations
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of design principles and standards
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of technologies
- Provide thought leadership and guidance on best practices, emerging trends, and industry standards
- Monitor and measure the impact of data platform and Engineering initiatives, tracking key performance indicators and reporting on the return on investment
- Set prioritisation of demand, taking into account business value and critical paths across your multiple areas of accountability and their dependencies
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, process engineering, chemical engineering or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in a similar role
- Prior experience in leading teams
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Passion for time series data, data models and discoverability
- Knowledge and experience of data platform and integration development processes, systems and best practices
- Exposure to API/Microservice technology stacks and AWS/AZURE cloud platforms
- Exposure to IoT and Event Streaming Technologies
- Excellent time management skills with ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments concurrently and deliver on commitments.
- Ability to prioritize and execute initiatives with clear line of sight to enterprise strategies and business outcomes
- Excellent project management skills with a track record of successfully delivering on time and within budget.
- Ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Experience working on process or chemical engineering projects in the mining and resources sector of great benefit
