Manager, Departmental Liaison Officer, Office of the Secretary and Ministerial Services

This temporary vacancy is only available to current NSW Public Sector employees. External candidates are encouraged to apply for our externally advertised roles.

  • Remuneration: $139,787.44 - $161,662.80; plus Superannuation and Leave Loading

Your day as a Manager, Departmental Liaison Officer

Your typical day-to-day work includes working within Treasury cluster ministerial offices and be the central point of contact between the minister’s office and NSW Treasury. You will ensure the provision of high quality and timely advice on matters relevant to the minister’s portfolio. You will act as liaison between the ministerial office and Treasury to ensure the timely and accurate provision of information and advice and instill a service culture and drive high performance in line with Treasury’s vision and values.

As representatives of Treasury, DLOs also have exposure to a diverse range of complex and sensitive matters as well as establishing and maintaining good working relations with the Minister’s office.

This role liaises extensively with other areas within Treasury, with NSW government agencies and equivalents in other jurisdictions across Australia, and with external stakeholders.

Achieve success as Manager, Departmental Liaison Officer

In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW. 

You will be successful in this role if you have: 

  • understanding of the workings of government, including the role of Ministers, clusters and agencies, the role of the Minister’s office, parliamentary processes, and government protocols and procedures
  • experience in preparing high quality briefings, correspondence and other material to meet ministerial requirements
  • demonstrated ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • ability to exercise initiative, sound judgement, maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity
  • strong technical skills to understand Treasury’s role and accountability for managing requests from cluster Ministers’ offices

Eligibility
