About our client:
He is a 31-year-old man living with Autism, intellectual disability, and Epilepsy. He does have multiple disabilities that affect him daily which need constant monitoring and recording. He does have some behaviors of concern, which are managed through his behavior support plan.
PURPOSE:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Disability Services to join our teams/day shift and evening shift. This role presents an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the life of our client while contributing to the growth and success of our organization.
The role is to manage and provide support for the staff of a gentleman with complex disabilities to assist him in living safely and participating in his community. It will include supporting staff in human relations management, working with his team leader and staff, case management, and developing a personal relationship with the committee of management, the gentleman (client), and his family. The client is supported by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) 24/7 to live in his own home in Greensborough.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
On-going long-term Part-time position -
4 shifts per week to cover day and night supervision support with active person-centred support while on shift.
Our client is supported 2:1 24/7 and has Epilepsy and Autism plus intellectual disability, experience in understanding these conditions is mandatory for this position.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Manage, recruit, and lead the Daily Living Team, evening team and weekend team support workers, providing guidance, support, and ongoing training as required. Provide reflective practice on shift.
- Provide Human Relations support for all staff / all shifts
- Foster cooperative, professional staff relationships and culture
- Organize annual personal reviews with all staff
- Immediately follow up on any complaints or queries from staff
- Organize workshops
- Organize buddy shifts for new employees, fire safety evacuations, specific events, team meetings,
- Have a clear understanding of the client’s personal and NDIS goals and plan
- Working and liaising with the therapy team involved in his care and support ensuring team members are following therapy plans and behavior support plan
- Time sheet processing
- Rostering
- Quarterly reporting to JDC Support Committee
- Ensure compliance with health and safety and NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
- Maintain HR records of employees
Business Development and Strategy:
- Work with management and the Committee of Management towards registration with the NDIS.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, industry standards, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Ensure Daily Living teams comply with all requirements of JDC Support NDIS accreditations as developed.
- Industry knowledge of the NDIS is paramount to assist the organization in becoming an NDIS-registered provider
- Monitor trends and developments within NDIS Core Services, and disability support, with a view to continuous innovation.
- Monitor risk/risk aversion
Client Experience and Safety:
- Ensure our participant is involved in selecting his workers, including the preferred gender of workers providing personal care support.
- Monitor staff with medication ensuring confidence in their work re-administration, storage, and monitoring to prevent errors or incidents.
ACADEMIC & TRADE QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL- Human Relations qualifications
- Managerial qualifications, supervision of staff essential
- Disability Support direct care experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably within the disability services sector.
- Strong understanding of NDIS guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Proven track record of successfully managing teams
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Experience in strategic planning and business development.
- Ability to run a SIL home
- Prior experience in a similar role is essential
- NDIS Worker’s Screening Check.
- Medication certification - Epilepsy, and First Aid
- Drivers license
- Rights to work in Australia (no students will be accepted for this role)

- Ability to write effective reports
- Ability to write effective case notes and check other staff case notes are accurate and comprehensive
- Can maintain a private home with the support of his support staff
- Maintain confidentiality

Roster:
Hours of Work:
4 days per week:
1 day shift per week 9am to 5pm
2 evening support overnight including sleepover shift
1 x 4 hours shift working with Management for on going training and development of the role
1 x 4 hour shift for Administration duties
