Our Branch
Organisational Services supports, equips and helps guide the Council to deliver the Brisbane Vision through centralised corporate services and a customer-focused approach.
Within Organisational Services, the Information Services branch (ISB) supports and enables nearly all of Council’s day-to-day activities and services through efficient, flexible and innovative ICT solutions.
ISB leads the ICT strategy that supports the business objectives of Council as a whole, as well as information management and ICT service delivery in Council.
The Role
The role of Manager Workplace Services is pivotal in ensuring the provision of stable, highly available, and secure core ICT services for both the change (Non-Production) and operational (Production) environments. Additionally, the role encompasses ownership of key service management processes catering to all application portfolios, as well as the management of outsourced providers and intricate vendor relationships.
Responsible functional areas include; End User Computing, Deskside and AV support, Service Centre Radio & Telecommunications, Operational Observability, Transition to operations, change and release management.
In relation to specific deliverables for your role you will:
- develop an engaged, productive, and customer-focused workforce
- deliver systems and processes which deliver value to the organisation and to the customer
- plan the resourcing of services with appropriate risk management to meet demand within budget
- collaborate and share accountability across organisational boundaries to drive consistent and seamless delivery and the direction of resources to corporate priorities
- participate in strategic decision making and represent Brisbane City Council to the community, other levels of Government and to industry
- own and champion corporate values, strategies, policy, and directions such as Code of Conduct, diversity and inclusion and Zero Harm
- champion the strategic corporate management agendas on issues such as customer service, service delivery, change management and people management
- during disaster events, be available to perform the role of Incident Controller within the Local Disaster Coordination Centre to provide leadership and implement strategic directions from the Local Disaster Management Group.
We are in search of a visionary and forward-thinking individual who possesses the foresight to anticipate future demands and formulate innovative solutions. Collaborating with multiple change managers, project managers, and operational professionals, you will seamlessly work across diverse teams to generate strategic business outcomes for Brisbane City Council staff.
We are particularly interested in candidates with service management experience in large-scale environments and a comprehensive operational background. Individuals with a passion for automation align well with our vision for meeting future Council strategic objectives as do candidates who demonstrate strong leadership capabilities in line with Council’s Leadership Blueprint.
To ensure success within the initial twelve months, you will spearhead and advocate for a continuous improvement agenda, collaborating effectively to deliver value to our city.
The ideal candidate will have the following key knowledge, experience, and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Masters in IT or a relevant field, or relevant experience
- ITIL certification or relevant experience
- Agile certification or relevant experience.
