Ryan Catholic College, Kirwan was established in 1979 and has as its foundational story the well-known "Journey to Emmaus" from the Gospel of Luke. About the role

Ryan Catholic College, Kirwan is seeking an experienced and dedicated Marketing and Communications Officer. This is a full time, permanent position commencing as soon as practicable.

The Marketing and Communications Officer, under the direction of the Business Manager, provides high level support to development and implementation of strategies, that maximise enrolment and enhancing communications for the College through face-to-face and digital marketing.

The Marketing and Communications Officer will demonstrate a strong degree of self-initiative, flexibility and dependability while, additionally present a professional image and create a welcoming, warm and positive impression. As the initial point of contact for many key stakeholders, the Marketing and Communications Officer will deliver high quality customer service and strong Marketing and Communications experience.

Key Accountabilities

Marketing and Communications Officer:

  • will be highly organised and demonstrate a high attention to detail
  • will represent Ryan Catholic College in a professional, warm, friendly and efficient manner. 

The Marketing and Communications Officer responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following areas:

  • Develop and execute the College Marketing Plan and management of the College marketing budget as well as provide financial or planning advice which include regular reporting and statistics.
  • Work in collaboration with college staff and in accordance with the college marketing plan to develop high quality marketing materials. These include: website, social media management, digital, publications, yearbook, advertising resources and signage that comply with organisational branding.
  • Manage the College branding of all communications and visual effects, and ensure video and image supports the College’s marketing vision.
  • Work with the Townsville Catholic Education Office Marketing and Communications Team to proactively seek opportunities to promote the college and support enrolment strategies.
  • Manage the promotion of college events and achievements across multiple mediums, including social media and website to further establish the school brand.
  • Liaise with Enrolment and Alumni Officer and Events Officer to ensure College events are proactively promoted in accordance with brand guidelines. 
  • Prepare and schedule college digital and social media event invitations, LED signs, website updates for events.
  • Photograph College events as required.
  • Coordinate and lead all College marketing events and activities.
  • Act as the liaison for news outlets to development positive media opportunities for the College.
  • Seek grant application opportunities for the College, and complete applications in consultation with the College Principal.
  • Ensure the College Style Guide is effectively maintained and communicated to all relevant stakeholders within the College community.
  • Manage the correct use and application of the College Style Guidelines across the College.
  • Communicate with all stakeholders in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Answer family enquiries via appropriate communication methods.
  • Perform administration duties as required.
  • Other duties as directed by the College Principal and/or Business Manager.

Mandatory Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications at Diploma level in Marketing or Public Relations or equivalent qualifications relevant to the position, or 5 years relevant experience.
  • Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government.
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience in the education field would be considered advantageous.
