About the role

Reporting to Unit Manager Maternal and Child Health and Immunisation, you will have the opportunity to drive your passion in fulfilling Council’s role in delivering high quality services and planning to improve the health, wellbeing, safety, participation and development of its youngest citizens and families in Merri-bek.

This is one of three Coordinator positions within the Unit. To be successful in this role, you will have strong community and customer focus and leadership skills. You will have a record of achievement in operational and staff management, service and program development and delivery, planning, partnership development.

With qualifications as a maternal and Child Health nurse, you will demonstrate people management skills and an ability to support, mentor and develop a highly committed and talented team in the planning and delivery of maternal and Child Health and Immunisation services and a range of programs and initiatives to support the health, wellbeing and development of babies, young children and their families in Merri-bek.

You will have experience in program/service planning and a proven track record in driving continuous quality improvement. You will have high level analytical and interpersonal communication skills, with an ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and support the Unit manager to build strategic partnerships, capitalising on opportunities and driving innovation within MCH and Immunisation services. 

Skills and experience require to perform the role

  • Demonstrable experience in the WHS field and relevant tertiary qualification
  • Extensive experience in coaching and mentoring team members and stakeholder across an organisation in all aspects of WHS
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing a sustainable business partnering and case management model across a business
  • Possess a continuous improvement mindset
  • Exposure and ability to support the delivery of coherent, consistent and effective WHS services, including data analysis and preparation of management reporting

What the role can offer

  • Experience as a practicing registered nurse, midwife and Maternal and Child Health Nurse. Demonstrated and relevant experience in providing support/ debriefing/mentoring to staff or a willingness to undertake training in this area.
  • Sound understanding of the Health and community support services system, particularly in the provision of services for children and families.
  • Skills and experience in providing responsive Health and community services to meet diverse community needs.
  • Experience in project and change management.
  • A current Victorian driver’s licence and Working with Children’s Check Card.
