NHW is the major regional health service and specialist referral facility for Northeast Victoria. It serves a population of approximately 102,000, performs over 6,500 procedures a year and has over 19,000 inpatient episodes and 30,000 Emergency Department attendances a year and approximately 700 births per year. We have onsite radiology, pathology and blood bank service. NHW provides a wide range of acute specialist medical and surgical services, an emergency department, critical care unit (ICU, HDU, CCU), obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, specialised aged care, medical oncology services, community rehabilitation, inpatient, community, aged and psycho-geriatric mental health services.
NHW has recently completed a major redevelopment, including the building of a new emergency department, ICU, and expansion of medical and paediatric units

Interns PGY1 - 10 Posts in 2025
Interns will rotate through accredited core terms in General Surgery or Orthopaedics, General Medicine and Emergency and Rehabilitation Medicine (non core).
Supervision for all positions is undertaken by Specialists who have a wealth of relevant clinical experience, are practical in nature and provide excellent educational backing within a supportive environment. NHW offers an excellent teaching program, well-resourced library and relevant time off for compulsory training courses.
In addition to the nine NHW Interns, we provide core Surgical, Medical and Emergency rotations for three Interns rotating from Melbourne Health and six from the M2M Intern program.
NHW will be offering two year contracts to interested candidates who wish to remain in the Region for their PGY2 year.
