Job description

Dr James Askew is a General and Bariatric Surgeon who works with a dedicated team including dietitians, psychologists and support staff to provide high quality, warm and compassionate weight loss and general surgical care to our community. 

We have a very caring approach with our patients and a friendly team environment and are looking to add a full-time Medical Receptionist / Administration Assistant to the Practice Manager to our team. 

As a Medical Receptionist, you will play a you will play a crucial role in creating a positive first impression for our patients. Your responsibilities will include warmly greeting and assisting patients, managing phone calls, and maintaining accurate patient records and accounts. 

This position requires a motivated person who is committed to patient care and attention to detail. Excellent communication and organisational skills as well a strong respect for patient privacy are also a must! 
 

In addition to providing administrative assistance to our Practice Manager attend to the varied daily operations of our Practice and supporting our patients in our bariatric clinic, you will also contribute to the overall patient experience by welcoming them, offering refreshments, optimising appointment scheduling and ensuring our patients feel supported throughout their visits and interactions with the Practice.

Experience in a customer service is required. You will have an exceptional phone manner, strong written and verbal communication skills. Previous experience in a medical reception role is not required however it would be advantageous. 

Our Practice runs using Apple computers and Genie medical software. You will have a strong working knowledge of macOS and the Microsoft Office suite. These will be essential to navigating our Practice's administrative tasks effectively.

Position details:

Role: Full-Time Medical Receptionist / Administration Assistant to the Practice Manager.

Hours: Mon-Thur: 08:00hrs - 17:00hrs

Fri: 08:00 - 13:00hrs

Days: Monday - Friday. No public holidays or weekend work.

Remuneration is above award and based on experience.

Subsidised, undercover car parking is available.

Hours are negotiable for the right applicant with some flexibility in start-end times.  

A nine-day fortnight and one work-from-home day per fortnight can be discussed.

Responsibilities:

- Greet patients with a warm and friendly manner

- Build patient rapport in a professional, courteous and empathetic way

- Answer phone calls, address inquiries, and provide information to patients

- Verify and update patient information in the electronic medical records system

- Assist the Practice Manager with various administration and patient care tasks within the Practice

- Mange the appointment calendar and schedule appointments appropriately 

- Maintain the reception area 

- Collaborate with the Surgeon, dieticians, psychologist and bariatric GP to ensure a smooth patient experience.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience in a customer service role is required

- Proficient with using Apple computers

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Strong multitasking and organisational abilities

- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information

- Knowledge of medical terminology or a keen interest to learn medical terminology is a plus.
