Finding the right candidate for our evolving practice is very important to us. We are seeking a compassionate Medical Secretary with strong administrative ability who will be working in a cardiology specialist practice which is located in Westmead, NSW.
This role will initially be part time/casual, transitioning to a permanent FULL TIME role, if suitable.
Ideally, this role would suit an individual who is comfortable to work independently. On clinical consulting days you will be working with 1-3 cardiologists and tending to patients in-person. On non-consultation days, the administrative work will be carried out on your own requiring general office duties to be carried out, such as; responding to telephone and email enquiries, patient appointment scheduling, document scanning and liaising with relevant medical professionals to compile necessary documents for upcoming clinical days.
Responsibilities Include:
• Meeting and greeting patients, taking phone calls, responding to emails and booking patient appointments while keeping in line with cardiologist schedule for the day.
• Compiling necessary documents needed for consultation days by contacting appropriate general practitioners, hospitals, referrers, and chasing any relevant diagnostic results (initial training will be guided by the cardiologist to develop understanding of practices).
• Management of patient invoicing and receipting of consultations.
• Issuing accounts and collecting payments, and processing.
• Managing the complaints handling processes.
The successful candidate will have:
• Experience working as a Medical Secretary in a SPECIALIST practice (preferably cardiology practice)
• Prior experience with Genie/Gentu or similar Medical Practice Software.
• Knowledge of Medicare processes.
• Highly skilled in verbal and written communication, in particular, relationship management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously.
• Proficient in IT systems and software applications.
• Ability to work under pressure and pick up new processes quickly.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent people skills that relate well to patients, staff and healthcare professionals.
• Understanding of health and safety policies and procedures.
