Applications Close: Wednesday 24 April 2024What you'll be doingThe Clinical Nurse Consultant provides expert clinical assessment and advice to patients/clients, carers and other health care professionals with complex healthcare needs within the Mental Health setting in ISLHD Emergency Departments.The Clinical Nurse Consultant is a clinical expert who, through leadership, facilitates excellence in research based clinical practice, education, research and professional leadership. The Clinical Nurse Consultant models the CORE (Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment) values of the organisation.All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Applicants are encouraged to review the following information on Applying for a position within NSW Health at:Selection Criteria * Registered nurse with a current licence to practice from the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and current NSW Driver’s License. Minimum five years full time equivalent post registration experience and in addition who has approved post registration qualification in Mental Health or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.

• Proven knowledge or experience in acute Mental Health Care, with a demonstrated commitment to recovery oriented Mental Health service provision.
• Proven clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including Mental Health Assessment, consultation, liaison and networking skills.
• Proven skills in clinical teaching, the identification of education needs in the clinical area, and competency in the use of contemporary information systems.
• Commitment to the concept of Continuous Quality Improvement and ability to conduct research/evaluation and apply to an expanded scope of practice within the Emergency Department.
• Demonstrated experience in identifying, reviewing, implementing and evaluating clinical pathways, guidelines, flowcharts for specific age related or complex client groups.
