About you
The HIP Board members contribute their experience and knowledge collectively to ensure the sustainable growth of HIP, monitor HIP’s performance and ensure legislative compliance and good governance, your experience coupled with your technical capabilities and interpersonal skills will be highly regarded in this role.
Technical Capabilities
- Financial acumen and experience – Contemporary financial experience (i.e., practicing CA or CPA) and ability to understand and interpret financial information including the statutory financial accounts, budgeting processes and the ability to financially evaluate investment proposals.
- Commercial Judgement – Demonstrating sound business judgement and acumen.
- Governance – Sound understanding of good governance and working knowledge of legislation relevant to HIP. Ability and experience in governing in accordance with the governance principles published by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission.
- Risk and Compliance – Ability to understand risk management processes under ISO 31000 and assist with identifying key risks to HIP. Oversee compliance activities and maintain a contemporary knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements.
- Policy – Ability to identify key issues for HIP and develop appropriate policy parameters and frameworks within which HIP should operate.
- International business experience – Board or executive experience working in an organisation with international operations (for example in the USA, New Zealand, and APAC). Experience in chairing a Board or committee is desirable.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate will have appropriate tertiary qualifications and successful completion of the Company Directors Course or equivalent. Experience working with the government and negotiating within a public-private contractual arrangement is desirable.
