Our Journey
Doveton CCU provides community residential psychosocial rehabilitation to consumers (18-64 years old) who have a serious mental illness and associated psychosocial impairments. Doveton CCU provides a home-like environment where consumers can continue their recovery from mental illness and develop their skills and capacity for independent living in order to facilitate a transition to the community. Doveton CCU offers an initial residential assessment period that may be followed by a medium-term psychosocial rehabilitation program based on individual needs. Referral sources predominantly include Monash Health community mental health teams (CCTs and MSTTs), adult acute inpatient psychiatric units, and the secure extended Care Unit (SECU).
A Day in the Life
The Nurse Manager will lead the multi-disciplinary team and will provide specialist nursing skills to residents of the CCU. This position is a clinical leadership role responsible for the day-to-day operations, clinical outcomes and management of DCCU staff. You will work in partnership with the consultant psychiatrist and other senior clinicians to provide strong leadership and ensure sound governance structures and processes and the delivery of safe and effective mental health services .The role requires the Nurse Manager to manage operations and meet the set budgetary and KPI targets and to provide regular reports on service performance.
The position requires an individual with skills which will enable them to liaise closely with a number of Inpatient and community agencies, clinical teams and external agencies such as Victoria Police, Ambulance services or Primary Care services to ensure best practice care is provided. This will ensure a comprehensive assessment, collaborative treatment design and appropriate referral of consumers presenting to the team.

As an experience Nurse Manager, you will demonstrate excellent clinical skills in working with our consumers who face complex issues. You are dedicated to promoting their health and well-being through evidence-based interventions. You have extensive experience in Mental Health care and knowledge of a broad range of diagnoses. You have established leadership and management skills and you empower your team through showcasing your critical thinking, clinical excellence and safety focus in a supportive and excellence driven way. Using your excellent communication skills, you work closely with a varied team of Mental Health and allied professionals across Monash Health with the sole purpose of delivering exceptional care at all times.

What you need:
Required a Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing – or completion of a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program or specialist post basic course of training which led to registration as a Division 3 nurse.
Has a minimum of 5 years full time equivalent post graduate qualification
Clinical leadership within a community Mental Health facility desirable
