About the role:
The Level 3Occupational Therapist will provide short term care in the community to help facilitate early discharge from hospital. This may involve functional assessment and retraining, as well as prescription of minor modifications and basic equipment.
Our successful candidate will work daily alongside other members of the Hospital in the Home Team (Nursing & Allied Health).
A typical day requires the Occupational Therapist to complete home visits - often at short notice, and continually reprioritise workload to meet the demands of any new and urgent referrals. The Occupational Therapist will need to establish good working relationships with inpatient Occupational Therapists (frequent referrers) and local Community Occupational Therapists (to whom they refer for any long-term Occupational Therapy needs that can not be addressed as part of the short term/time limited HITH OT intervention).
Our successful candidate will be supported by members of the Hospital in the Home team, the HITH Nurse Unit Manager (for line management matters) and the Community Occupational Therapy Site Senior (for professional matters.) The successful applicant will receive regular clinical supervision within the role. They will also have access to a supportive network of Occupational Therapists working across the Lower Hunter. Education and training opportunities will be identified and agreed as part of performance development discussions.

- This position is based at the new state of the art Maitland Hospital. The successful candidate will be working with the Hospital in the Home Team – providing Occupational Therapy input to people within their own home to help facilitate early discharge from hospital.
