The life of so many good BDM’s
Like many of the better BDM’s Australia wide, You may have spent the past 5- 10 years in a tough sales position with zero assistance from anyone apart from a weekly “Go get-em tiger” pep talk from your sales manager, after which you go straight into cold calling whilst he prepares for a full day of Golf at the National with influential people who will benefit his career. You are most likely earning a moderate base and slightly above average commission structure with the potential of earning a combined income of 150k gross, minus expenses. You have developed your sales skills and your attitude by enduring a tsunami of negatives, objections and rejections over the years, and in the process, you have made your employer millions upon millions in revenue. Given your results and the seemingly limited capabilities of everyone else around you, You have suspected for some time now that you are not earning what you know you should, you may even wonder why management seem to place higher value on the customer service people who baby-sit your accounts and why in some cases they are paid more than you or you wonder why they are taking a share of your commisison when they have a far easier reactive job.
I mean let’s face it, none of those clients would exist if it was not for your initial cold calls and character strengthening barrage of NO’s, follow-ups, numerous presentations, objection handling and closing ability.
What frustrated each of us when we worked as BDMs for other employers?
We produced great results and made our employers a lot of money, yet we received a lack of acknowledgement, and we did not get to fully capitalise on our efforts financially because customer service and others in the process took a share of our commissions that rightfully should have been paid to us.

The Position – On road sales position selling Digital Marketing B2B.
Office - South Yarra location
Expected office time - 1 hour each week for 1 morning meeting.
Payment cycle of your Salary, Super & car allowance - Paid weekly.
Commissions - Paid at the start of each new month.
Salary Package - $100,000 plus super plus $15,000 car allowance plus uncapped commissions, in addition - what you catch and retain, and you keep benefiting financially from those you retain or win back - Meaning as you keep re-signing your clients from their first 6-month contract to their second and so on and so forth, you keep earning full commissions at the full rate every time. Why do we allow this?? Because sales is King. And In order to assist you and free up your time, customer service handle all your client’s day to day needs and customer service earn their salary for doing so, they don’t receive any of the coms that are meant for you. Why do we do this? Because sales is King. If they complain, they are welcome to try sales.
Huge selling point - Customer service and all the back end, including all the IT staff and help desk are all located in Australia, they are all sitting in our Melbourne location, we don’t outsource anything that we provide to overseas companies.
Your monthly minimum Target - 80k of contracts each month with a three month ramp up period, each sale is calculated as a six-month contract where the full six months is contributed to the monthly target. E.G. the minimum monthly contract is $1500 this is calculated as $9,000 towards your 80k monthly target.
Maximum size of a contract - Unlimited
Maximum size of company we can support - Unlimited.
Your commission - Unlimited. Why? because Sales is King .
Commission rates against contracts signed:
0-80k in contract = 2%
80-100k = 2.5%
100k-120k = 3%
120-150k = 5%
200k – unlimited = 7.5%
Note: as you reach the next threshold, the percentage reached that month applies to the entire monthly figure on both your new and your existing clients.
In order to explain the lucrative commission structure - let’s say you are a below average sales person who is only capable of signing clients on the lowest possible 6 month package of $1500 a month because for some reason, you seem to think $1500 a month is a lot of money to a multimillion dollar business owner. And remember each contract must be a minimum of 6 months equating to 9k for each sale. This would mean 9 sales gets you to 80k. I hope this makes sense.
Hypothetical in order to explain the lucrative commission structure, let’s use the following figures:
Six months ago, back in August 2023 you achieved 80k in sales.
Fast forward to today Feb 2024 you achieved 80k in new sales contracts Plus you re-signed all your clients from back in Aug 2023 for a second time for a further 6 months each.
Therefore, Your combined monthly sales will be $180,000 for Feb 2024 = 180k X 7.5% commission will be $13,500 plus your salary, your super and car allowance for the months of Feb 2024.
