We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Engineer (Drilling) to join our team in the office with flexibility to work on site as required. This role will require close collaboration with our field teams and other internal stakeholders, as well as external partners and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the drilling and exploration teams to develop and implement operational plans, procedures, and best practices that ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Perform technical analysis and modelling to evaluate the feasibility of drilling projects and optimize drilling parameters such as mud weights, drilling fluids, bit selections, casing design, cementing programs, BHA design, directional well planning, torque and drag, and hydraulics simulations.
- Provide technical support to our drilling operations, ensuring that all aspects of the drilling process are optimized for efficiency and safety
- Provide technical support for drilling equipment selection, commissioning, and maintenance, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Monitor drilling performance metrics and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Develop and implement training programs for field personnel on drilling procedures, equipment, and safety practices.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, external partners, and vendors to ensure seamless coordination of drilling operations.
- Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Conduct technical evaluations of drilling-related contracts and proposals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in drilling operations, preferably in oil and gas or mining.
- Strong technical knowledge of drilling practices, equipment, and procedures.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with modelling software such as Landmark, Petrel, or equivalent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Flexibility to work on site as required.
