We are seeking a highly personable and solutions-focused Operations Manager for our family-owned and operated business. Established in 1989, G&S Seedlings is now the largest producer of seedlings in WA and produces over 1 million seedlings a week. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the senior leadership team and play a crucial role in managing the day-to-day operations.
Located ten minutes north of Wanneroo, and working from 6:30 am – 3:00 pm Monday to Friday, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of ten staff and ensuring that production targets are met on a weekly basis. With a key focus on culture, the successful candidate will enjoy being hands-on and have previous operations management experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee production, propagation, and maintenance operations
Plan work rosters, assign tasks appropriately, and appraise results
Operate forklifts, equipment, and provide hands-on involvement when required
Manage stock control and reconcile with the data storage system
Liaise and negotiate agreements with logistic suppliers and transport companies
Perform new team member recruitment, inductions, training, and onboarding
Manage assets and equipment for maintenance and servicing
Key Requirements:
Proven work experience as an Operations or Production Manager
Expertise in operations management procedures and best practices. Understanding of LEAN principles would be beneficial
Forklift and current WA Driver's License
Strong leadership skills and ability to manage staff
Proven ability to research, develop, and implement process and system improvement initiatives
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
Flexible and positive attitude
Excellent communication, presentation, and customer service skills
