Our client is an international chemical supply chain management company with a presence in Australia and New Zealand. They are currently looking for an Operations Manager to be based in Adelaide.
The Position
An exciting opportunity has become available for a dynamic Operations Manager to drive the business growth in Adelaide. As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible to ensure workplace health & safety (WH&S) and environmental compliance; and to manage the site production/warehousing activities, as well as to lead and manage the site operations to ensure commercial, financial, and operational business objectives are met.

As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for:
- provide hands on technical and operational support to production and warehousing operations.
- lead, develop and manage a team to achieve business objectives and priorities
- ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- develop and execute the sites commercial and financial strategies to meet business objectives and growth targets.
- collaborate with the senior leadership team to ensure alignment with overall Group objectives.
- manage relationships with key customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to support commercial outcomes.
- continuously monitor and evaluate the sites financial and commercial performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- responsible for profit and loss of the site, including reporting requirements, and taking corrective action as required to ensure financial objectives are met.
- maximizing the efficiency and productivity of the site by identifying, evaluating and implementing continuous improvement opportunities to improve efficiency
- review, manage, and reduce unit costs to an appropriate standard as per financial and operational objectives
- leading the effective allocation and utilisation of people and equipment resources to facilitate the achievement of customer requirements and related key performance indicators
- ensuring staff are adequately trained to carry out their duties in a safe and efficient manner and hold current necessary licenses, certificates of competency as per legislative and company requirements.

The Candidate
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, or a related field desirable.
- Ability to comply with company policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
- 5+ years of experience in the Chemical Manufacturing Industry or similar
- Demonstrated expertise in commercial and financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and analysis.
- Strong understanding of safety, quality, and regulatory requirements within the Chemical Manufacturing Industry to ensure compliance at all times
- Ability to maximise staff utilisation and achieve efficiency in unit costs
- Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal and influence skills.
- Ability to motivate and develop a team to achieve business outcomes.
- Strong business acumen and strategic thinking abilities.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision.
- Proven track record of achieving business objectives and growth targets.
- Knowledge of Food Processing & Manufacturing.
- Experience in HACCAP, ISO Quality Management Systems, Halal and Kosher an advantage
- Boiler Certificate an advantage
- Previous experience working in an environment with Boiler Maker or Fitter Turner requirements will highly be regarded.
- Experience in Site registers preferred
- Knowledge in the EPA, Trade waste, SafeWorks SA, Traffic Management, Dust & Fume Control, Confined Space, standardization of pipework or fittings, pumps, VSDs, Motors and Gearboxes will highly be regarded.
