As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the management of the Customer Service department and the development and implementation of short and long-term strategic improvement and change initiatives for Melbourne Airport. This position requires the delivery of agreed service standards for Qantas within defined financial, operational, people, safety and compliance objectives. This role is responsible for driving strategy design and continuous improvement by challenging existing business practices to enhance sustainability and efficiency.
In addition, this position is responsible for managing the relationship between Qantas and the Airport Authorities for the local operation. The position ensures that the agreed Terminal Operations Procedures are applied and that the Airport Authorities deliver against their service obligations.
You’ll have –
  • Management experience in an operational airport environment with significant people management responsibility
  • Demonstrated people and leadership skills including employee development, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated experience managing a large unionised workforce
  • Proven record of successfully managing change initiatives, and implementing continuous improvement activities
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial relations practices and human resources policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated commitment to managing a safe workplace
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and prioritising conflicting tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to develop and maintain constructive stakeholder relationships, with a demonstrated commitment to deliver customer service excellence
  • Commercial focus with the ability to correctly assess the impact of decisions on business outcomes
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
