The RoleThis role will be based out of our Osborne Park office. As the Operations Manager, reporting to the Managing Director, you will be expected to lead a growing team, drive operational excellence and project manage our portfolio of jobs to achieve sales budgets, on time delivery and profit targets.
What you’d be doing- Team Leadership:
- Lead, motivate and inspire and train and support a skilled team of data comms and electrical technicians, fostering a productive and positive work environment in line with company values. Identify and train your successor within your first six months;
- Facilitate a monthly management meeting whereby the business performance is analysed using a dashboard of KPIs, cause and effect is established, process improvements identified, and forecasts are established;
- Project Management: oversee the planning and execution of data comms and electrical projects, ensuring timely completion, adherence to budget, and compliance with industry standards;
- Operational Excellence: ability to read and understand plans, construct systems and processes to improve efficiency, quality, cost saving and overall customer satisfaction;
- Material Allocation: coordinate procurement of materials and inventory whilst efficiently allocating resources to meet project demands and maintain optimal productivity;
- Asset Management:
- Manage the purchasing, operation, and maintenance of the Lightspeed’s technical assets, including vehicles;
- In conjunction with the Managing Director, forecast future capital expenditure requirements to ensure Lightspeed can continue to deliver current and future services and increase turnover
- Quality Assurance: implement and enforce quality assurance measures to guarantee the delivery of high-quality comms and electrical services to clients;
- Client and Supplier Management: build and maintain strong relationships with clients and suppliers that secures future work, prepare variation submissions, attend site meetings, negotiate favourable terms and ensure timely delivery of materials;
- Strategic Planning: Support the Managing Director in developing, implementing and reviewing an annual strategic plan, including the identification of prospective new services;
- Risk Management: Participate in an annual risk assessment and apply risk analysis when any changes to the business’s operating environment are detected;
- Regulatory Compliance: stay informed about comms and electrical regulations and codes, ensuring all projects and operations comply with relevant standards and guidelines.
What you’ll bring (Qualifications & Experience)
- Proven experience managing projects containing fibre optics, data, electrical, CCTV installations along with other Lightspeed services considered highly desirable;
- 10 years of work experience, of which at least five years have been in a technical or similar trade role directly applicable to the responsibilities of this position;
- Diploma in Project Management, along with open registration considered desirable
- Demonstrated experience in team leadership;
- An ability to foster and maintain a team-oriented work environment that constantly strives to exceed expectations;
- Well developed communication skills both written and verbal, with experience leading teams of technical staff;
- Be willing to undertake training in leadership and development, along with any other areas of professional development identified by the management team;
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet deadlines;
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook Word and Excel. It is highly desirable to have exposure to SIM Pro ERP.
