The Stafford Heights State School P&C Association established a much-needed on-site Outside of School Hours Care Service Five years ago. Whilst still relatively small, its positive reputation has seen excellent growth and we are seeking an experienced educator to join our team for Before School, After School, and Vacation Care.
"Big Enough to Cater, Small Enough to Care", Stafford Heights State School is small but growing with a dedicated P&C who work cooperatively with the equally dedicated staff. The school hinges on a strong sense of community where children come first.
Role description:
Our Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) Educators support the leadership team to implement a safe, engaging, and educational program for children on a daily basis, including:
- Actively supervise children in a variety of environments (indoor spaces, playgrounds, excursion sites) to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.
- Deliver the Before school, After school, and Vacation Care programs under the supervision and direction of the OSHC Manager, OSHC Coordinator , Educational Leader, and responsible persons.
- Prepare menu items while utilizing safe food-handling practices.
- Contribute to the process of critical reflection and shared service decision-making.
- Maintain the safety and cleanliness of the service and facilities.
- Engage with children through play-based learning.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of the service.
- Create a welcoming and inclusive environment
- Provide children with an environment comprised of nurture, security, safety, and fun.
- Perform the duties reasonably required or directed by the Employer and/or OSHC Operations Manager, Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator
Hours of Employment
Service Hours of Operation are Monday to Friday.
- Before school care 6:30 am-8:30 am. Shifts vary from 6:30 am-9:15 am.
- After school care 3:00 pm-6:00 pm. Shifts vary from 2:15 pm-6:00 pm.
- Vacation Care and Pupil Free Days 6:30 am-6:00 pm. Shifts vary from 6:30 am-6:00 pm.
Casual educators must be available for a minimum of 3 afternoon shifts a week.

Position requirements:
- Completed or working towards an approved childcare-related Certificate III or 1 year qualification (or higher). (OSHC related sector preferred).
- Experience working with primary school-aged children (Age 4-12 years)
- Hold a current Paid Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- Knowledge of Child Protection
- A working knowledge of the My Time Our Place Framework, National Quality Framework, and National Quality Standards.
- Safe Food Handling Skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to positively, proactively, and regularly engage with staff, families and students
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Hold Current First Aid Certificate, Anaphylaxis & Asthma Management Training Certificates
- Maintain a minimum availability of 3 afternoons a week
