The Pastry Chef creates, implements and maintains quality standards. The Pastry Chef is responsible for the pastry kitchen operation, providing support and guidance to the team, whilst providing a positively memorable, guest experience through their sweet creations.
Some of the responsibilities include
- Through your strategic, creative skill-set, make your mark within the Canberra market
- Supervise the preparation and baking of various food items, ensuring five star deliverables
- Develop and implement creative menu items
- Plan, coordinate & implement special events and holiday functions
- Manage kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching, evaluating and hiring
- Work closely with other culinary leaders to achieve hotel culinary objectives
- Lead and coach the team towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction results
- Monitor food production, ordering, cost, quality and consistency on a daily basis
- Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen facilities and equipment
Qualifications
- Creative, skilled culinary professional adept in creating a wide variety of delicious desserts, pastries and sweets or up and coming Sous Chef, seeking their next opportunity
- In-depth skills and knowledge of a hotel pastry operation, highly regarded
- Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, organization and relationship skills
- Experience with training, basic financial management and customer service
- Proficient in general computer knowledge
- A true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast paced customer service environment
- Capable of producing a consistent product in a timely manner
- Culinary education and experience, hotel experience preferred
