Experienced Payroll professional required to lead and develop the payroll function in a newly created position.
The CompanyJoin this newly established team in Brisbane experiencing rapid growth and supported by a leading private equity-backed business poised for expansive growth through strategic acquisitions with the goal of tripling operations and revenue in the next 3-5 years. You will be an experienced Senior Payroll Officer with strong commercial experience who will play a pivotal role in the finance team in what will be an exciting phase of this business life cycle.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for ownership of the Payroll function:
- Conduct end-to-end weekly and monthly payroll processing for a workforce of over 300 employees
- Collaborate in accurately interpreting and applying Australian awards and taxation legislation
- Calculating and entering data into the payroll system to maintain and update payroll and employee information
- Set up and maintenance of employee records on payroll system
- Compiling summary payroll reports, as well as developing ad hoc payroll reporting in Excel
- Prepare monthly and end-of-year reconciliations and other reports for Single Touch Payroll (STP), Payroll Tax, and internal stakeholders
- Manage the annualised salary reconciliation process
- Maintain comprehensive records of employee leave and personnel files
- Oversee the administration of HRIS and Payroll systems, focusing on ongoing enhancements
- Ideally 3-5 years of experience in a proven high-volume payroll role
- Prior exposure to Employment Hero and Xero is highly advantageous
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of basic accounting principles, including manual journals, invoicing, and account reconciliations
- Showcase in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in all technical payroll activities, encompassing Australian statutory, awards, and compliance-related requirements
- Exhibit resilience and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively and professionally, with a readiness to respond promptly to last-minute payroll matters
- Possess the capability to foster strong working relationships with key personnel and stakeholders across all levels of the organisation
