The Role and Responsibilities
Reporting to Head of People and Culture, the Payroll Manager will lead a Senior Payroll Officer managing and overseeing the end-to-end process for multiple different entities, including payroll preparation, processing, and distribution for 800+ employees.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and company policies, including awards, legislations and interpreting long service leave legislations;
- Develop and maintain payroll procedures and documentation, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to best practices;
- Oversee and lead time and attendance, and payroll system implementation;
- Foster a customer-focused approach, establishing clear communication channels and processes for employees to contact payroll directly with enquiries, concerns, or feedback, ensuring timely responses and resolution of issues; and
- Work closely with HR, Finance and other departments to address payroll-related enquiries, resolve issues, and support cross-functional initiatives.
The Successful Candidate
Within the context pf the role described, the ideal applicant will be someone who has the following expertise:
- Proven experience in a Payroll Manager role;
- Experience in high volume payroll with 400+ employees;
- Understanding of awards and legislation and ability to interpret, and pay-out long service leave;
- Experience in leading and managing a project;
- Understanding of complex and diverse business structures, including exposure to multiple States and understand variations;
- Strong reporting capability;
- Advanced Excel skills to support with monthly reporting;
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills; and
- Strong leadership and management skills.
