Additionally the Payroll Manager supports the Payroll Officers and Senior Payroll Officers through the management of the team including acting as an escalation point for complicated queries, delegating daily workflow tasks, assisting with onboarding new team members and reviewing work including termination payments.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:The key responsibilities of the Payroll Manager are as follows:Payroll:
- End to end process of Payroll activities
- Accountable for managing complex client accounts, payment issues, client queries and complaints
- Manage and resolve escalated payroll issues and assist Payroll Officers with difficult payroll issues
- Allocate day to day activities in a structured manner to ensure all tasks are delivered in the appropriate time frame.
- Review work of Payroll Officers including termination calculations
- Calculate and process accurately all fortnightly and/or monthly payroll, increases, back pay, leave entitlements, other adjustments and termination payments in accordance with statutory requirements
- Facilitate the electronic transfer of salaries and wages to financial institutions and other deduction recipients
- Ensure payment to employees, superannuation companies are processed in a timely manner
- Ensure payroll guidelines (policies and procedures) are accurate, up-to-date and promote effective and efficient practices
- Reporting - ensure day to day reporting requirements are met; adhoc reports are provided to stakeholders in accordance with confidentiality requirements
- Processing company superannuation and salary insurance payments
- Ensure Sarbanes & Oxley (SOX) and other control processes are followed
- Demonstrate and encourage a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration
- Establish performance G&O's and provide regular feedback to team members
- Support employee capability development toward uplifting performance and the achievement of personal career aspirations
- Recruit and select team members; provide training and development
- Maintain regular team meetings

- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and establishing personal networks

- Tertiary education (relevant qualification desirable)
- 5+ years experience in a similar role
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Knowledge of national and state based payroll, supernannuation, leave related regulations and legislation
- A strong client service approach, quality control is key
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Advanced MS Office skills, with high degree of confidence in MS Excel
- Effective organisation skills with the ability to prioritise
- Flexible and adaptable attitude amidst an environment of constant change
- Knowledge of contemporary Payroll principles, practices, and regulations
