The successful candidate, as the Payroll Officer, will be responsible for end-to-end payroll and record keeping for the group, and provide general accounts support where required to other areas of the business.
Job Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day management of payroll function (across all divisions)
- Input of all timesheets into payroll related systems within set timeframes.
- Processing of weekly timesheets, review of EBA and award interpretation and outcomes.
- Reconcile hours against timesheets weekly.
- Process payroll pay conditions and understand pay rules in Astute.
- Completing calculations in relation to tax and superannuation.
- Finalise payroll and bank as required.
- Maintaining and archiving relevant payroll information (Location, Rates etc)
- General ad hoc/administration assistance for Financial Accountant / Payroll Manager
- Provide support and leave cover to Financial Accountant / Payroll Manager
- Manage and deal with payroll queries as and when required. Conduct investigation and liaise with accounts, to confirm and communicate outcome with relevant parties.
- Set up new employees and clients, rule groups, rate cards, etc. within the payroll system.
- Liaise with rostering team for updates / improvements to rosters.
- Liaise with recruitment team in relation to assistance following up on timesheets and any clarification needed for new client or site set ups.
- Escalate high level employee payroll issues or concerns with recruitment team or rostering team and managers ensuring they are kept informed.
- Provide accounts support such as preparation and issuing invoices for payroll related hours to clients.
- Prepare and produce a variety of reports as and when required.
- Maintain employee records including superannuation and ATO tax compliance.
- Maintain data integrity within system ensuring it is accurate and up to date.
- Liaise with field staff to ensure timesheet records are accurate and not falsified.
- Special projects as and when required.
- Valid Australian Drivers Licence.
- Formal accounting or bookkeeping education or Certificate III in Administration (desirable).
- Minimum 3 years working in a similar role.
- Experience with Xero and/or Astute or similar payroll systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Demonstrated administration skills in reporting, and time sheeting.
- Experience in interpreting Awards and Agreements.
- Experience working in the labour hire or construction industry (desirable).
