About the role
As the Payroll Officer, you are responsible for the maintenance of full and accurate payroll records and payroll processing on a fortnightly basis. Ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual requirements is essential to the role. Your core responsibilities include the preparation and processing of payroll, ensuring all relevant information is maintained accordingly to internal processes and completed in a timely manner. Acting in accordance with BCAC Code of Conduct, policies, procedures and relevant legislation and professional standards.
Skills you’ll need to succeed
- Formal qualifications in payroll, accounting or finance.
- At least 3 years working as a Payroll Officer, or similar role.
- Knowledge of, and experience in applying, industrial legislation in the workplace.
- High level computer literacy, including experience using payroll, financial or accounting software packages, including Microsoft Excel. Micropay and/or Emplive experience highly regarded.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet payroll deadlines.
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build a rapport with people from diverse backgrounds and age groups.
- Ability to prioritise time and organise work schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Awareness of WH&S legislation and manual handling procedures.
- An awareness of, and sensitivity to, the needs of older people.
- Personal commitment to own professional learning and development.
- Experience working within Aged Care – highly desirable.
- Knowledge and/or awareness of relevant legislation, regulations, standards and guidelines relating to Aged Care.
