Wenona is seeking an organised and skilled Payroll Officer to join our team. The role supports the Payroll & Systems Coordinator in processing the payroll for all staff members within the School. This is achieved through a broad range of payroll support to meet the needs and functions of the Finance team.
The PositionThe Payroll Officer plays an important role providing efficient, informative and timely payroll support to all staff members. It focuses on processing end to end payroll, as well as reporting, calculating and attending to various payroll inquiries. The Payroll Officer will work closely and collaboratively with the Finance team in the Business Office.
Key Duties and responsibilities for the role include:- End to end fortnightly payroll processing including new starters, timesheets, leave management, superannuation, salary packaging, employee updates and terminations.
- Collecting, calculating, and entering data in a timely manner.
- Verifying calculations of pay, entitlements, or disbursements prior to processing.
- Maintenance of payroll master data information.
- Assist with processing month end payroll journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support the wider HR team with data and reporting activities.
- Providing exceptional customer service to staff in a professional and timely manner.
- Interpreting and applying the Independent Schools NSW Multi-Enterprise Agreement.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of policies, procedures, and legislative/regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality when dealing with payroll information.
- Supporting the finance team with Accountant, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable duties during busy periods.
- Payroll experience essential, with knowledge of systems (Access MicrOpay experience desirable), award interpretation and law.
- Proven reconciliation skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Accounting or similar qualification desirable
This is a permanent full-time position.
This role requires the successful applicant to hold a valid NSW Working with Children Check and to be fully COVID vaccinated. You will also be required to provide a recent NSW Police Check (completed within the last three months).
