We are entering a phase of extensive growth and are looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our team.
About the role:
We have approx. 2000 employees that we process payroll for across a range of varying EBA’s and Awards, linked to the aged care industry (Residential, Community and Retirement).
You will collaborate closely with other finance and operational stakeholders, communicate effectively, and provide outstanding service to our client’s employees regarding payroll-related inquiries. Attention to detail, compliance with regulations, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are critical to success in this team.
You will be responsible for the following:
- Processing and management of high volume end-to-end payroll for a growing workforce, with multiple payrolls over various pay cycles and payroll systems.
- Data and system maintenance including client set up, award rate uplifts, checking of rates calculators, updating oncost rates, etc.
- Calculation and processing of salaries, deductions, bonuses, workcover payments, child support and other payroll associated deductions/reimbursements.
- Calculation and processing of termination payments in accordance with EBA, modern award or employment agreement.
- Verify electronic employee time and attendance records as required to generate accurate payroll calculations.
- Interpretation and adherence to the EBA’s and awards.
- End of month processes including PAYG, STP, superannuation, payroll reconciliations, monthly payroll reports for all entities.
- End of year reconciliation and reporting.
- Keeping up to date with relevant legislation changes or award updates, advising senior management of any amendments and implementing changes to the payroll system, time and attendance system or payroll procedures where necessary.
- Applying advanced problem-solving skills to payroll processes and systems to resolve any service delivery issues.
About you:

The successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes:
- Proven experience as a Payroll Officer (at least 2 years).
- Ability to process high volume payroll with accuracy.
- Strong understanding of rostering and award interpretation.
- Extensive knowledge of current payroll related legislative requirements.
- Familiarity with multi-location payroll processes and tax regulations.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication and stakeholder skills - a service-oriented mindset is critical, where client satisfaction is always front of mind.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency in using payroll software/HRMS and MS Office, particularly Excel. Care Systems and/or Humanforce system experience also highly regarded.
- Tertiary Qualifications in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field preferred, with Professional Certification an advantage.
- Experience within the aged care and/or disability sectors or similar would also be of advantage.
- The successful candidate must be an Australian citizen or have a current appropriate visa to work in Australia, be willing to undergo a criminal background check and be willing to undergo vaccinations if required under aged care legislation.
