Job description

Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) are looking for a highly skilled Payroll Officer to join our team based in Jandakot. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring our payroll processes run smoothly and our employees are paid accurately and on time. 

About you

  • Previous experience performing end to end payroll.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • High quality organisational skills and ability to work under pressure to tight timelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate experience with the Microsoft products – Excel, Word and Outlook. 
  • Experience in reading and interpreting industrial awards, enterprise agreements and legislation relevant to payroll. 
  • Previous experience in ADP or Dayforce will be considered advantageous.

About the role

  • End-to-end payroll on a fortnightly basis for 450 staff, across 5 EAs and common law contracts.
  • Perform End of Financial Year processes.
  • Maintain and update employee and system parameters for leave, pay classes, allowances, deductions, STP requirements etc. 
  • Maintain knowledge of upcoming legislative payroll changes.
  • This role reports to the Payroll Manager, with another Payroll Officer and Senior Payroll officer as part of the team. 
  • Processing currently performed on ADP while we develop our new Dayforce system.

About Us

The mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia. Every member of the RFDS WO team contributes to that mission and living our values of showing respect, demonstrating fairness, utilising diversity and being safe. Every year, the RFDS WO provides urgent retrieval for about 10,000 patients in regional WA. A further 10,000 appointments are provided in primary healthcare clinics in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental and mental health care. RFDS crews are committed to providing the finest care to the furthest corners of the State, using the highest standards of clinical care, aviation safety and technology to make a difference to people living and working across WA – the largest and most remote health jurisdiction in the world.

The RFDS in WA operates five bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Meekatharra. Our 24/7 operations centre at Jandakot Airport coordinates complex logistics for patient retrievals and clinics across the State. We work in partnership with government, business and the community, and are proud to work on Country with Aboriginal medical services and many local service providers.

In 2024, the RFDS is launching a new five-year strategy ‘Above and Beyond’, which will mark an important new chapter in the long Flying Doctor history. The strategy will include a focus on expanding remote health clinics in some of WA’s most vulnerable communities, expanding our profit-for-purpose services, strengthening our workforce, harnessing technology and addressing our environmental sustainability.
