Payroll Specialist

This is an ideal role for a Payroll candidate who is looking for temporary role within the NFP space and is available to commence immediately.

About the Role  
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

• Process semi-monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring timely and accurate payment.
• Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
• Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers.
• Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
• Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee payroll queries in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to ensure cohesive and efficient operations.
• Stay current on new legislation and regulatory rulings impacting payroll.

Skills & Attributes

• Experience working as a Payroll Officer or similar role.
• Confident in using systems 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Accurate data entry
• Exepriance using Chris 21/ ichris systems
