Our client is a dynamic local government body located on Adelaide's eastern city fringe. An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced Payroll Specialist to report to the Chief Financial Officer on a permanent full-time basis and contribute to the excellence in service delivery.
Your new role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for the provision of the organisation's entire payroll function, which includes but is not limited to:
- Accurate and timely payment of wages and staff payments in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Assist with onboarding of new staff.
- Support continuous improvement of policies and procedures.
- Undertake monthly balance sheet reconciliations, assist with the annual budget process and EOM / EOFY reporting.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the council's Corporate Governance.
What you will need to succeed
To be successful in this position, you will take pride in the work you do with a high level of attention to detail and possess the following skills and experience:
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience in end-to-end payroll processing (essential).
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant finance discipline (desirable).
- Previous experience with system implementation (desirable).
- Experience working in local government will be (desirable).
- Knowledge of the Civica Authority System (desirable).
- Excellent knowledge of legislative requirements and regulations relating to payroll.
- Knowledge of the relevant Awards and Enterprise Agreements in respect to payroll matters.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and corporate technology.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- High level analytical ability along with an excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication coupled with fantastic customer service / teamwork.
