An exciting opportunity exists for the Pharmacist Senior to provide high level pharmaceutical services to the ever-growing population of Outpatients serviced by the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service. Services are delivered to achieve best practice pharmaceutical care in accordance with patient needs, in alignment with the policies and priorities of the Health Service. The position will ensure the safe, effective, judicious use of medicines across the continuum of care, whilst remaining compliant with relevant regulatory statues and promoting the efficient use of public resources.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Specifically function as a ‘front facing' pharmacist, focussed on triaging the receipt, and actioning of outpatient medication requests using clinical judgement and assessment of patient specific circumstances.
- In combination with Dispensary Leadership, re-assess current prescription flows with the goal of creating and directing a ‘fast-track' criteria and service for outpatient prescriptions to reduce waiting times for patients who meet this criterion.
- Identify patients who will require pharmacist counselling and/or assistance with medication management at the point of intake. Utilise the dispensary outpatient counselling room to provide this service, as well as to dispense the required medication using forward dispensing.
- Manage outpatient clinical queries. Act as the point of contact for phone queries that require a pharmacist's input.
