The Town is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Planning Officer to join the team.
This is a 3-month contract role (with the possibility of extension). Part-time or flexible work hours can be considered for suitable candidates.
Your new role
Reporting to the Coordinator Urban Planning the successful applicant will be involved in the day to day operations of the Urban Planning team. They will also have the opportunity to be involved in a diverse range of interesting planning challenges including residential character, urban design and revitalisation.
Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- assessing development and subdivision applications
- providing professional planning advice to the community, Government agencies, developers and other departments on statutory planning matters
- assisting in the development of policies and procedures
- facilitating good development outcomes by working with landowners, developers and the Town’s Design Review Panel
What you’ll need to succeed
- working towards or formal tertiary qualification/s in town planning or related discipline,
- demonstrated ability to provide high quality customer service
- knowledge of the Western Australian statutory planning framework
- intermediate to advance computer skills
- good organisational and time-management skills
