About the role
AEMO WA Operations is at the forefront of the energy transition, managing the Power System through the energy transition in Western Australia. In this role, you will provide support to the WA operational planning and forecasting team and other key internal and external industry stakeholders. This includes providing technical support and continuity to enable complex operational problems to be solved; work towards continuous improvement; support innovation; and manage issues as they arise. This role is based in Perth.
What you will be doing
- Manage Power System operation issues, advising and resolving matters among key stakeholders.
- Support and guide operational planning activities where advanced levels of technical analysis are required.
- Perform Power System security analysis, including load flow studies.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with staff of internal and external clients and stakeholders.
- Review commissioning activities that impact the Power System.
- Provide technical interface between AEMO operations and internal and external stakeholders addressing real-time challenges
What you will bring to the role
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Systems engineering with wealth of experience in electricity industry.
- Strong knowledge of Power Systems, including experience with generation types and characteristics, distribution or transmission network equipment types.
- Power system analysis capability including load flow or fault studies.
- Aptitude for understanding new technologies and acquiring new skills.
- Self-motivation with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work individually or as part of a team.
- Ability to think logically and analyse and solve issues.
