The role
Our Intelligent Transport Systems and Electrical (ITS&E) North Coast team is a part of the Statewide Network Operations (SNO) Branch, and our objective is to operate and optimise the road network to safely and efficiently move people and goods across the State.
The primary responsibilities of the Principal Engineer will include:
* Coordinate, manage and provide extensive electrical technical expertise in multidisciplinary project teams across a portfolio of transport infrastructure, including program development, project management, contract management.
* Identify and manage networks and alliances of all stakeholders and manage the expectations and issues of all parties, including identifying possible political and high-risk matters to ensure they are dealt with in a timely and professional manner.
* Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary to support responsible decisions and courses of action for the design of road infrastructure projects.
* Prepare and deliver professional and technical advice, correspondence, submissions and plans relating to Intelligent Transport Systems and Electrical (ITS&E) projects and road network solutions.
* Mentor and supervise the work of non-RPEQ team members and coordinate resource allocation to encourage effective teamwork and foster a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
About you

* High level experience in Intelligent Transport Systems and Electrical infrastructure maintenance and delivery standards and practices.
* Strong analytical and technical skills to foster continuous improvement in the efficiency of systems and technologies.
* Inspires and sustains team cohesion, engagement and performance by focusing the teams on specific and measurable short- and long-term goals, and empowering autonomy and ownership for the delivery and quality of outcomes achieved.
* Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills coupled with the ability to articulate complex problems and solutions to a variety of audiences and to gain commitment from key stakeholders to support ideas or take action.
* Proactively builds long-term working relationships with partners inside and outside the department.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
* Possession of a degree in engineering from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent engineering qualifications. Electrical Degree is highly desirable.
* Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ).
* Current holder of Class C driver's license.
* Travel within Queensland may be a requirement of the role.
* Criminal history screening will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
