As a Principal Policy Officer, you will develop strategic policy advice and options at an experienced level. In addition, the role contributes to the continual improvement of OIR's performance including the development and implementation of departmental strategies and initiatives that support government priorities.
Key responsibilities
- identify, research and analyse complex policy issues, develop options and provide high-level policy advice in the area of work health and safety and electrical safety to the Manager, Director, Senior Executives and the Minister
- work individually or as part of a team, supported by a Manager and Director, to develop outputs including major policy papers/reports, industry codes, submissions, legislation, briefs, memoranda and letters of reply on complex and sensitive work health and safety and electrical safety policy issues
- lead cross-branch projects and/or multi-disciplinary project teams to resolve key policy problems
- represent the branch, department or the Government at a range of forums including interdepartmental and inter-governmental meetings
- liaise and negotiate with other agencies and key stakeholders at a state and national level on a range of work health and safety and electrical safety issues, within a multidisciplinary environment
- provide guidance on and contribute to a positive, productive and professional team culture.
