The role:
This role works closely with the other Strategic Portfolio Office services (including Benefits and Optimisation, Investment Governance and Appraisal, Portfolio Risk and Assurance) as well as several stakeholder groups across the organisation to provide a full complement of digital Portfolio Performance and analytics services to our customers.
In addition to this you will be responsible for:
Support the registration and review of investments in the investment development pipeline and the management of these investments as they transition into delivery.
Oversee vendor performance and commercials relating to internal vendor solutions within the team and develop application roadmaps to support the Team Manager in their capacity as application custodian.
Analyse, model and forecast investment and performance trends to support recommendations to improve Portfolio Performance.
Manage, mine, combine and extract data to provide useful insights.
Make continual improvements and implement new performance reporting including the production of dashboards.
Use quantitative assessment techniques to:
highlight the causal factors explaining performance issues across the digital portfolio.
assess the capacity of the organisation to absorb the proposed level of investment in the pipeline.
forecast initiative performance to support the formulation of forward guidance to executive.
Continually maintain data standards to ensure they:
meet portfolio management requirements and
improve the richness and usefulness of existing data.
Deliver and lead the implementation of quality and timely deliverables that are assigned to this position on the Strategic Portfolio Office annual operational plan.
Keep the Digital Investment Reporting Guideline, other Portfolio Performance and Analytics collateral and the Portfolio Performance and Analytics intranet page up to date.
Are you right for this role?

- Experience and knowledge in critically analysing and visualising data using dashboards to derive clear conclusions and actionable recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities to improve investment pipeline management, performance management, reporting and data standards and analytics, and deliver these.
- Highly developed research, analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills, including the proven capacity to initiate appropriate strategic and operational responses to key issues affecting the investment pipeline and performance of the portfolio.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with a diplomatic approach and ability to liaise and relate to a wide range of stakeholders including senior and executive stakeholders.
- Capability to work under limited supervision to manage and quantitively assess large datasets and summarise findings into easy-to- understand conclusions and actionable recommendations.
- Ability to mentor and lead more junior staff and be comfortable in a high-pace environment with several priorities with tight timeframes.
Knowledge
- Experience in critically analysing datasets and portfolios/investments, and clearly briefing on findings and recommendations.
- Experience in managing, analysing and visualising data with digital dashboard and analytical tools.
- Training or experience in Portfolio, Programme or Project Management.
- Whilst not mandatory, experience in relational databases(SQL) and Microsoft Power BI would be well regarded.
