Our client, one of Australias leading design and manufacturers of tier 1 automotive aftermarket products are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Process Engineers to join their Geelong team. This is a permanent full-time role based on-site.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working closely with the diverse manufacturing team you will be required to deliver the Process Engineering function within Manufacturing Engineering. This function includes the assessment of new products for manufacturing feasibility, the definition of process inputs and outputs for new processing equipment design and commissioning, the development of design standards for tooling and gauging, and set-up of equipment and processes for new and/or modified launch SKUs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure Safety requirements are identified, documented and considered in: Development of design standards, Processes and equipment developed for launch SKUs; and Definition of process associated with new equipment.
- Develop tooling design standards and/ or guidelines for products and processes that capture and apply the Process Engineering team’s knowledge and experience.
- Deliver capable, reliable, and maintainable tooling (through to PPAP) to production and provide detailed instructions for safe, standardised operation of tooling to the operations team.
- In conjunction with the Quality Manager, develop gauging design guidelines and standards and deliver gauges to the quality and operations team. Capable gauging shall meet R&R requirements and be compatible with Plant ISPC and SPC strategies.
- Support the Feasibility assessment of new products for manufacture according to current process definition and capability. In cases that process development is selected by management, support that process development as directed.
- For new process development, lead or support FMA and PFMEA as directed.
- Execute the transactional task requirements for the introduction of all new SKUs throughout the launch, including but not limited to machine and/or robot programming, SOPs and check sheets for all process steps.
- Support the Operations team in the resolution of systemic Quality concerns.
- Support the Development of Manufacturing Engineering Systems (MES) as directed and apply the MES.
- Ensure that all strategic departmental decisions and project plans including but not limited to those for organisational efficiency and purchasing are aligned to the organisation’s business plan.
- Support and Lead Process Engineering Technicians.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
- Engineering degree (master, bachelor, or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, production/ manufacturing engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in Automotive or high-volume composite manufacturing environments preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain constructive working relationships with all internal and external project stakeholders.
- Product, tooling and process CAD design (SolidWorks preferred)
- Concise and accurate written communication skills.
- Tooling background - highly regarded
- Project management skills, timing plans, issue tracking and resolution.
