Experienced Procurement Team Lead required for a global ship building company based in Cairns Your new company Hays Recruitment is pleased to represent an established business that specialises in the design, construction, and support of vessels in the Cairns region, with offices and sites across Australia. This leading organisation is seeking a Procurement Team Lead to join the team in Cairns, QLD on a permanent and full-time basis to start immediately. Your new role Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will direct the Procurement Team responsible for executing and ensuring effective coordination of procurement activities of Inservice and maintenance services for the vessels. You will be responsible for ensuring the continued improvement and success of the team for optimum support of procurement activities. Key objectives & responsibilities for the position include:
Responsible for a team of Procurement Specialists executing the Supply Chain Process
Supports Senior Procurement Specialist with major impact and business critical purchases
Ensures appropriate procurement representation and reports are supplied to all projects
Ensures timely and accurate up-to-date reporting from the team
Manages all business-critical disputed purchases of goods and services for a favourable outcome to the business and supplier
Monitors and identify high risk product/service categories
Ensures full support to sales team with RFx process and management of quotes and tender evaluations
Monitors and ensure Procurement Teams activities are within agreed budgets and timeframes.
What you'll need to succeed We are seeking a talented and passionate individual, who is dedicated to creating value and delivering a quality service with the required drive and resilience, along with the procurement knowledge and experience. You will be versatile and be able to think quickly on your feet, with the ability to hit the ground running and lead/drive a small team.
Tertiary level qualifications in procurement, supply chain, contractual law or similar
CIPS Qualifications
Extensive experience with Pronto and/or equivalent procurement software packages would be desirable.
Proven capability and experience in managing a team performing the above key procurement duties in the engineering or manufacturing environments.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and people management skills.
Strategic, analytical and innovative, with solid problem-solving skills.
