What is the role?The AFP's Central Procurement Services (CPS) team is responsible for delivering the strategic procurement and contract management framework to support operational outcomes through compliant and timely procurement activities.This position offers a rare opportunity to become a part of and lead a collaborative Procurement team. We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Procurement Team Leader who is able to work effectively to deliver procurement expertise to enable value for money and compliance across AFP procurement activities.This role will have a focus on building and maintaining the full procurement lifecyle, including ensuring governance and effective processes are in place. You will implement leading procurement strategies and help to drive efficiencies and savings through commercial agreements.As a Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.Our ideal candidate is someone who demonstrates experience providing strategic procurement advice, has good interpersonal & negotiation skills, as well as the ability to coach and develop team members.What will you do?As a Team Leader your responsibilities will include:
  • Being accountable for managing and leading a team, including managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes.
  • Developing team members and fulfilling a guiding, mentoring and advisory role.
  • Providing HR and management support to team members and supervisors.
  • Building and sustaining relationships and liaising with a range of stakeholders including other teams, and colleagues across AFP and other organisations.
  • Supplying advice and services to business areas seeking to improve or enhance their procurement processes.
  • Assisting in maintaining regular and timely communication with relevant areas
  • Ensuring that appropriate action is taken to anticipate, communicate, investigate and resolve procurement issues
  • Ensuring outputs are achieved within the strategic direction of the AFP.
  • Leading a range of corporate support tasks.
  • Maintaining currency through ongoing professional development
Essential Requirements
  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Has contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role.
  • Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in Commonwealth Procurement
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
Additional Information
  • This position in located in the ACT however, the AFP will consider interstate applicants who wish to work from another AFP office including Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
