The company
Our client is a company that has been around for 30+ years in Australia They sell a range of consumer electronics and IT products under a number of brands including private label and commercial brands. Products can be found in leading national retailers and mass merchants as well as online. They have a great reputation with their customers for supplying quality product backed up by exceptional service. Due to the strong sales growth, and desire for NPD and further growth, they are now looking for an entrepreneurial, experienced, strategic, creative and communicative Product Manager / product marketing specialist for their business to drive category growth from new and emerging categories. The ideal candidate for this role will have at least 2 to 3 year's experience in such roles in a product based company (preferably CE) and loves taking products to market while engaging with the clients as well as the sourcing and sales departments.
The role
Based at Sydney head office, (with some negotiable WFH options), the role will be responsible for:
* New product assessment, business case.
* Product roadmaps, Go To market, category reviews, PR and product launches.
* Developing the range of products & brands with the suppliers to meet demand
* Creating category plans for rolling 12 months
* Understanding the consumer markets
* Pricing and positioning
* Segmentation and sizing
* Product & sales collateral and communications
* Product strategy – roadmap, go to market, pricing, promotions
* Has a proven history with copy writing – packaging, web content, socials, media releases
* Experience with product presentations – store and buyer visits
* Work on annual / seasonal product plans.
* In store – planograms, POS
* Power Point Presentations
* Product Training
* Market intel
* Some pricing / positioning
* Customer profiling
* Launching products to market
* Plans to clear over stock / obsolete lines
Skills
For this role it is essential that you can demonstrate a successful Product Manager / trade marketing background with a (preferable) FMCG product. You are entrepreneurial, proactive, have a technical aptitude and a drive to ‘own’ this category. Someone from a smaller, medium or large, structured business could all be suitable. The most important aspect is the interest and ability to take products to market looking at price, margin and commercial viability and profitability.
Important also is:
* Technical – understands feature benefits and communicate them.
* You can create a category plan and understand consumer insights.
* PSI or inventory / forecasting experience
* An in depth understanding of the logistical processes
* PSI / forecasting and planning experience
* Excel and product analytics and talk sell through, net margins, stock days, co-ad
* Have created packaging, sales collateral, online content, media kits, product launches, events
* Some socials experience.
