Due to the expansion of the Step Global product lines we need to add a Product Manager (PM) that can take full commercial and technical ownership of the pre-sales and post sales activities associated with the life of a range of high value system solutions.
Step Global is a complete solution provider from architecture level design through development of hardware and software to full ongoing service and maintenance. The PM is required to provide technical skills on the promotion and use of current products, tools, and design flows, define new products, and facilitate adoption of these solutions with a variety of customer systems. The PM works alongside both the Sales and Engineering teams and is the commercial and technical authority for customer projects.
The responsibilities of the PM are:
- Technical consulting with the clients for the application design of products and systems
- Evaluate new product ideas and suggestions, investigate market opportunities, and estimate their effect on markets for present products and prepare proposal for management action.
- Interact closely with the technical teams at product vendors to understand the new technologies/architectures being rolled out.
- Development of product positioning plans and sales tactics.
- Take ownership of the delivery of product requirements documentation to the Engineering Team.
- Assist the sales team through the pre-sales and post-sales activities.
- Travel to customers sites for product presentations and identify any issues.
- Plan and coordinate the investigation, development, and introduction of new products including pricing, forecast of potential sales and financial, engineering and manufacturing aspects.
- Market trends/intelligence: A deep insight into the market trends and competition is essential for the role. The PM is expected to leverage the market intelligence in providing guidance to the sales and systems engineering team.
- Assist with writing up application notes, user guides and technical articles.
- The PM must understand the nuances that drive the sales and procurement decisions. They need to understand the commercial and technical needs of the customer and suggest a fit for purpose solution accordingly.
- Build Expertise: Build on the knowledge & expertise gained from previous projects to build better system solutions. Possessing sound technical knowledge is of utmost importance in this field. Also, it is essential to be able to strategically and effectively communicate to customers. Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills along with the willingness to travel are also the qualities that employers look for in a PM.
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Have a tertiary electronics engineering degree or equivalent.
- Have a solid basic understanding of RF communications, LTE, 5G, WiFi, Bluetooth, ISM, GNSS & RFID.
- Have a good understanding of Mobile Video.
- Have a proven understanding of cloud computing technologies.
- Have a basic understanding of Automotive electronics including CANBus.
- Have a solid grasp of Network Communications.
- Have an ability to capture a customer’s technical needs and provide a solution that you can demonstrate will add value to their business.
- Have proficient verbal and written skills.
- Willingness to travel.
- Be self motivated with a hunger for searching out new opportunities.
- Have an ability to write and present technical papers on related applications to our technologies.
- Have an ability to set, manage and access your own work.
- Have the right to live and work in Australia.
- Have a current drivers licence.
