About You: With extensive experience in garment construction, fittings, quality assurance, and product management, you will contribute to executing premium quality products across a wide variety of women's apparel categories. The role involves working closely with our Head of Design & Director.
Position Overview: As the Production Manager/Garment Technician, you will work closely with the Design team to transition from initial design concepts through to final production. Reporting to our Head of Design, you will create detailed technical packs, manage the fitting process, manage quality control standards, and oversee the production schedule to ensure all products meet White & Co.'s quality standards and critical path, while managing and maintaining strong relationships with all international suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Pack Creation:
- Follow design direction from Head of Design & Director to specify and create detailed technical packs for all apparel categories.
- Ensure technical packs are accurate and up to date, reflecting any changes in design or fit.
Fitting Process:
- Participate in fittings with the Design team to resolve design and fit changes.
- Measure all samples; protos, PP’s, and SS accurately, update technical specifications, and ensure high-quality sample making throughout the entire sampling and production process.
Development to Production:
- Collaborate with the Design team throughout the development process to final production.
- Ensure all protos, pre-production, shipment samples and final production are managed on time according to the critical path.
- Resolve technical issues to meet required quality and fit standards.
Quality Control:
- QC of bulk production when it arrives to the warehouse to ensure all shipments received pass White & Co.’s quality standards.
- Suggest and ensure all fabrics used for each garment are suitable to pass high quality standards.
- Review fabric tests and work with suppliers on appropriate garment care instructions.
- Ensure all designs are washed according to care label requirements prior to bulk production to ensure fabric is QC-checked before orders are raised.
Production Schedule Management:
- Use scheduling program to update and maintain production schedule with offshore suppliers across all countries of manufacture
- Conduct weekly production meetings with all external manufacturers to come up with solutions and prevent manufacturing issues before they arise.
- Communicate regularly with the Design team on production status, resolving issues to ensure production is managed in line with critical path timeline.
- Ensure all designs are delivered on time and that the production schedule is on track across all departments.
Supplier Management:
- Maintain productive working relationships with offshore suppliers, regularly reviewing their performance with the Design team.
- Collaborate with the Design team to source new suppliers based on new product requirements.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 3 years' experience in production management or a similar role within the industry.
- Tertiary qualification in fashion design, textile, patternmaking or grading essential
- In-depth knowledge of production techniques, demonstrating a strong understanding of garment construction and fit specifications
- Advanced skills in Excel
- Illustrator skills - ability to draw CAD’s advantageous
- Experience in tech packing, garment specs, pattern making, & grading is essential.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in fabric testing, textile properties, and quality assurance.
- Ability to anticipate construction problems & provide suitable solutions.
- Ability to develop, manage and maintain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders & suppliers.
- A solution-driven and resourceful thinker, with proven ability to use initiative and take a ‘hands-on’ approach across all aspects of the role.
