AddressWhitfield Minerals has an exciting opportunity to join, grow and diversify one of Australia’s leading manufacturers and providers of Ventilation Control and Geology Consolidation solutions to the underground mining industry.
Core Mission / Scope as Production Manager, you will play a combined leadership and operational role in our plant at Norseman WA 6443, operations and contribute to the strategic and operational outcomes for the company.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Alternate Site Senior Executive (SSE)
Support your Line Manager as alternate SSE when required and on alternating weekends. As alternate SSE you should be familiar with
2. Business Management
a. Develop / prepare production operating plan and structure in collaboration with and support of budgeting process for sign off by your Line Manager.
b. Develop and report on daily / weekly / monthly / quarterly / annual plant production plans to drive desired business results for sign off by your Line Manager.
3. Production / Plant Operations Management
a. Lead and manage plant operating personnel in the safe, efficient & cost-effective utilisation of plant infrastructure whilst ensuring quality production of end products in line with business plan.
– Scope: Plant feed from ROM to finished product dispatch.
b. Develop operating policies / procedures that drive:
– Plant performance, utilisation and uptime
– Optimal equipment maintenance cycles
c. Recruit and train and manage all plant production staff (Managing day to day work responsibilities, Production Planning, Shift Planning / Rostering, KPI Setting, Performance Management, etc)
d. Develop and implement sitewide maintenance strategy covering
– Mobile Plant comprising (Excavator / Dump Truck / Wheel Loader / Water Cart / Forklifts)
– Fixed Plant
– Generators (Norseman ops are off-grid)
– Plant and w/shop housekeeping.
– Critical spares and site spares.
e. Co-ordinate and contract in requisite mechanical and electrical support to maintain Fixed Plant production line, including but not limited to:
– Gas fluidised bed
– Conveyors
– Augers
– Automatic Bagging Machine
– Dust Collectors
– Cyclones
– Motors
– Electrical circuitry and control panels
4. Mining Operations
– Whilst your Line Manager is accountable and responsible for managing sitewide mining operations, as alternate SSE you will be responsible for providing relief support as required.
5. Training
Onboard and train staff in the core disciplines required to underpin operations, including but not limited to:
– On job training for production role
o Plant Operator
o Bagger
o Product Dispatch
o Finished Product Quality Control
o General housekeeping and maintenance
– Management of relevant tickets required for employees to perform their roles in accordance with Mine Safety and Inspection Act and Mine Safety and Inspection Regulations, including but not limited to:
o Confined space ticket
o Working at heights ticket
o First aid certificate
o Forklift ticket (LF)
o Wheel loader ticket (RII)
o Dump Truck ticket (RII)
o Water cart ticket (RII)
6. Regulatory & Safety
a. Ensures compliance with all legal, environmental occupational health and safety and risk management standards and leading practices
b. Curates and fosters a safety culture by conducting:
– Weekly toolbox talks
– Monthly planned task observations
– Monthly safety observations
– Routine workforce hazard identification inspections
– Other as required and agreed in collaboration with your Line Manager
7. General
a. Provide visible felt leadership in safety, sustainable development and company values.
b. Establish and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
c. Accountable for continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives
d. Ensure Company Quality and Safety procedures are adhered to by all personnel
e. Support development of New Aquacrete Branded Product Lines with small- and large-scale testing
Requirements Education / Essential Qualifications •
- Bachelor’s degree in production / mechanical engineering or proven track record in leading small teams within a production / manufacturing environment .
- Current First Aid Certificate
• Australian Citizenship or holder of valid work VISA
• National Police Clearance
• Valid driver’s license (HR would be ideal)
Desired Experience
- Strong leadership skills combined with Senior management experience with small scale production operations.
• Knowledge of Mine Safety & Inspection and OHS Act / Regulations - Fire & Rescue training
Qualities / Skills
• Proven track record in managing and leading teams
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• English – proficient both written and verbal
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software package (Word / Excel)
• Good organisational skills
• Ability and willingness to live locally in the Goldfields region DIDO or FIFO on 3 week on 1 week off roster (Sundays off).
