WA College of Agriculture – Cunderdin is seeing a hard-working Program CoordinatorPositive Culture and Wellbeing to joint their competent staff.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Western Australian College of Agriculture – Cunderdin in 2024 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $7,000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure).  Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.  

The ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school. 

About our College

Our College provides Year 11 and 12 students with a unique educational experience focused on innovation and excellence. In 2023 our College was named ‘WA Small Training Provider of the Year’ at the WA Training Awards as well as awarded the bronze medal in the same category at the National Training Awards. Our College was a finalist in the WA Education Awards- Excellent in Teaching and Learning (Secondary). In 2021 we had a Beazley Medal (VET) recipient and in 2020 were named 2020 WA School of the Year (WACE attainment). The College is conveniently located in the beautiful Wheatbelt town of Cunderdin, 160kms east of Perth and has great sport and recreation facilities and a close-knit community feel.

About the role:

**Please note the College is happy to negotiate either 0.8FTE or 1.0FTE with the recommended applicant**

We require a motivated, collaborative and highly organised leader who will build on and strengthen our College-wide values and Positive Culture. You will be required to lead our committed Student Services Team, the College-Wide Wellbeing Plan and support day-to-day student engagement, behaviour and Wellbeing.

In addition, as the Positive Culture and Wellbeing Coordinator you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work collaboratively with our students and the Student Council to ensure student voice is heard and informs planning, policy reform and practice
  • Work with key stakeholders to enhance the ‘student experience’ and support the coordination of activities and student events
  • Increase opportunities for student leadership
  • Build on a sense of belonging, connectedness and pride for our College through clearly articulating our College values and expectations
  • Increase the formal recognition of students who represent our College values and beliefs
  • Provide mentoring and strategies for students requiring additional support
  • Develop authentic and meaningful relationships with students, and have a deep understanding of the needs of male adolescents in particular
  • Lead the development and implementation of a Staff Wellbeing Plan

Our Student Services Team currently consists of our Associate Principal, Residential Boarding Manager, Head of Curriculum, Assistant Farm Manager, School Psychologist, Chaplain and a representative from both ‘Trades’ and ‘Class’ areas. The team works collaboratively to identify and support students

This role will involve a teaching load of 0.4 - 0.6FTE. A proportion of the load will be allocated to the delivery of targeted health and Wellbeing programs to students during ‘Wellbeing’ time with the remaining teaching load will be allocated to General/ATAR course delivery based on the successful applicant’s qualifications, skill set and timetabling needs.

This role is suited to an individual who is interested in a leadership role, committed to supporting student wellbeing and success and would also like to maintain their classroom ‘currency’ through maintaining a teaching load.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that prove the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Eligibility and training requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • Complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
