Road Safety Education Limited (RSE) is committed to saving lives through reducing road trauma. As the pre-eminent road safety educator for youth in Australia and New Zealand, our flagship RYDA Program is typically delivered to 50,000 senior high school students from more than 600 schools each year.
About the role
RSE seeks to appoint a Program Coordinator for Brisbane and Southeast Queensland.
This position, which joins an additional part time provides a unique opportunity to make a positive difference in our community. RSE and our partners are committed to improving road safety and the Program Coordinator will play a major role in delivering and growing the company’s operations, working alongside our partners and engaging with local authorities, schools and volunteers in a crucial area of education.
This position will be responsible for coordinating and delivering RYDA programs to schools in metropolitan Brisbane and Southeast Queensland, and working closely with our Rotary partners to support their delivery of RYDA throughout regional Queensland.
The role will suit applicants who are good all-rounders with a desire for flexible employment which may involve some travel throughout Queensland.
This varied role involves a mix of working from home, working at schools and RYDA venues, and meetings with stakeholders throughout Brisbane and Queensland.
Your stakeholders include schools, Rotary Clubs and other volunteer organisations, and the facilitators who deliver RYDA, in order to achieve RSE objectives. This includes coordinating and assessing facilitators; coordinating venues and other program resources; pre- and post-workshop communications with schools; and assisting with the evaluation of RYDA effectiveness and impact.
This is nominally a 0.6FTE position, but with peaks of activity throughout the school calendar. This is a job share position, with each role between 0.4 and 0.6 FTE.
About you
You need to be willing to get stuck into all parts of the role, be good at thinking on your feet and fast-thinking problem solving. You will need to juggle your focus between event management, client relationship building, and detailed administration tasks. You will be an enthusiastic self-starter, happy to work both autonomously and as part of a state and national team, organised to work from your home office when not on site.
Based in Brisbane, the role requires a mix of event and project management and communication skills.
Experience in educational delivery is advantageous but we encourage applicants from a range of educational, road safety, private and public sector professional backgrounds.
You will be flexible, and able to start early to set up RYDA workshops as needed, and have access to a reliable vehicle.
The primary responsibility will be to deliver the RYDA program. To do so you will need to be able to:
- connect with local communities including high school students, teachers and principals, Rotary Clubs, Police Council Road Safety Coordinators
- lead a small team of contract facilitators
- understand how RYDA and road safety education sits within the broader school curriculum
- input data into our CRM to help track and evaluate the effectiveness of the RYDA program
Successful candidates may be able to demonstrate skills and experience in a range of the following areas:
- A track record in an event management role within a multi-disciplinary environment.
- A successful sales background.
- Experience running programs either in communities or with schools.
- An ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal skills).
- Ability work effectively with individuals at all levels including volunteers.
- An ability to work autonomously to achieve objectives.
- Very good attention to detail.
- Relationship building with a variety or key stakeholders, including high schools, and leading teams of contractor facilitators and volunteers
- Problem solving with an ability to multitask and work autonomously as well as part of a team
- Proven organisational ability and time management skills coupled with a high degree of computer literacy.
- Great attitude under pressure and a good team player with a sense of humour.
Not essential but viewed favourably:
- Prior experience in a not-for-profit organisation and/or the road safety or education sectors.
- Experience in using a CRM system.
Applicants must have access to their own vehicle. This role may also involve some travel with overnight stays. You will need to work from home and a car allowance and home office allowance are included in addition to the remuneration package. Having a space at home to work and some storage is needed. The salary is based on 23 hrs a week and is between $38,000 – $42,000 ($64,000 – 70,000 FTE).
