How you’ll make a difference
The Infrastructure Delivery Branch has a large $500m capital Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) upgrade program to deliver in the next five years. This includes constructing new bioreactors, clarifiers, primary treatment facilities, switchboard and blower buildings, and all associated civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and controls works at the Cities four STPs.
The works will be managed internally by our STP Upgrade Program team in conjunction with the Principal Design Partner. New upgrades will be delivered by the Infrastructure Delivery Program (IDP) construction partner. The commercial model is a collaborative partnership with risk adjusted Total Price with pain/gain share calculated on final actual costs.
This position is a significant contributor to ensuring design, construction and commissioning activities are implemented in accordance with the City's Project Management and Contract Management requirements.
This is an exciting career opportunity for a person with an engineering background to:
- Manage a high-performing team of Senior Project Engineers, Managers and Principal’s Design Partners to support the successful delivery of the project
- Ensure the works are designed and constructed in accordance with state safety and environmental legislation
- Ensure the works are designed and constructed in accordance with the project specifications and the approved Business Case to ensure high-quality outcomes are achieved
- Ensure all key stakeholders are consulted during the project lifecycle
- Provide accurate design and construction status reporting, including forecasting expenditure and timelines
- Manage delivery and contribute to the over success of the IDP including ensuring the partnership runs efficiently and effectively and achieves win/win outcomes for all parties
- Manage and control all commercial and contractual matters in accordance with the construction framework agreement
What you bring to your new role
You will have a minimum of 15 years’ experience in the delivery of water or sewerage treatment infrastructure and have extensive project, contract and construction management experience.
The following personal and technical attributes are desirable for this role:
- Bachelor Degree of Engineering (Mandatory)
- Diploma of Project Management or equivalent knowledge
- Diploma of Leadership and Management or equivalent knowledge
- Drivers licence unrestricted
- General construction induction white card
- Able to plan and organise others to ensure the timely completion of tasks
- Deliver a high-quality service to internal and external customers
- Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including mediation, negotiation and conflict resolution
- Able to manage a high-performing team and foster good relationships between the client and contractor
- A natural affinity for problem solving, critical thinking and proactive in gathering information, analysing data and identifying suitable solutions.

This position is a reclassified Alternative Employment Agreement (AEA). The salary of approximately $190,000 per annum plus superannuation is commensurate with working a 10-day fortnight and will be negotiated based on the complexity of the position, and alignment of your skills, knowledge, and experience.
